LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Cheers were heard and tears flowed in two different places in the Las Vegas Valley on Wednesday, as two military men returned home.

At a T-ball field in the western Valley, Noah rounded third. He looked up to see his father, Tech Sgt. Tyrone Nixon, waiting for him at home plate.

"Daddy!" Noah exclaimed.

Nixon scooped Noah into his arms. "Hi, boo boo! Hi!"

Nixon, who is stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, returned home Wednesday after being deployed in Korea. It was the first time Nixon has seen his son play T-ball.

"It was amazing," said Nixon's wife, Lisa. "I was crying the whole time. It was beautiful to surprise one of my babies with daddy's homecoming."

Nixon is home for two weeks before he'll be sent back to Korea to finish his deployment.

On the opposite side of the Valley, family and friends waited to welcome Pvt. Timothy Vu at McCarran International Airport. As Vu stepped off the escalator, the group cheered and waved signs.

Vu hugged everyone in the group - one at a time for some, others in groups. Then he turned to his girlfriend and dropped to one knee.

"Shaneda Champeaux, will you marry me?"

"Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" Champeaux replied.

Vu said the hardest part of his six-month deployment wasn't the combat training, instead it was the struggle of being away from his family.
