LAS VEGAS (FOX5/AP) -

A jury determined on Tuesday a Las Vegas Strip resort was liable for injuries sustained by comedian George Wallace while performing there and awarded the entertainer $1.3 million in damages and expenses.

Wallace, 61, was seeking at least $7.1 million from the Bellagio Las Vegas hotel-casino in a lawsuit stemming from the December 2007 incident.

The verdict concluded two weeks of testimony and deliberations that entered its third day on Tuesday in Clark County District Court.

Bellagio attorney Paul Haire said Wallace had a pre-existing Achilles injury and failed to prove the hotel and its employees were responsible.

Wallace testified that he's permanently hobbled by a sudden injury suffered when his leg became entangled in wiring onstage while entertaining an HSBC Card Services Inc. audience.

Jurors awarded $1.2 million for income Wallace lost during his recovery. An additional $100,000 was awarded for pain and suffering. The jury also awarded $8,500 for Wallace's medical expenses.
