LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Chrissie Coon with North Las Vegas Police says a call came in just after 6:30 Saturday night about two people drowning in the pond at Craig Ranch Regional Park. When first responders arrived, they found a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old male in the pond, according to Coon.

Coon says the boys were trying to swim across the pond. The 17-year-old male rushed to the aid of the 15-year-old male after he got caught up on some plants and went under, according to Coon.

The 15-year-old boy was transported to University Medical Center in serious condition. Coon says his injuries don't appear to be life threatening.

Swimming in the pond is a violation of park rules, and there are signs posted in the area, according to Coon.
