LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Forecasters said winds of nearly 70 mph are possible for some locations in Southern Nevada this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning from 5 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday for the Spring Mountains. A wind advisory was issued from 8 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday for the Las Vegas Valley.

Meteorologists said winds of 40 to 50 mph are possible in western and southern parts of the Las Vegas Valley by Saturday. They said gusts of nearly 55 mph, as well.

For the mountains and Red Rock Canyon, forecasters said, winds of 50 to 60 mph are likely with gusts as high as 70 mph at times.

The Weather Service said the strongest winds will happen early Sunday morning.

Strong crosswinds will make for difficult driving, especially along the 215 Beltway on the western side of the Las Vegas Valley, forecasters said.
