LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Adult English language classes offered by the Clark County School District will continue without interruption after a probe into misuse of funds tied to the program.

The classes will be placed in the supervision of the Education Services Division as the Adult English Language Acquisition Services Department (AELAS) undergoes re-organization.

The school district said Monday five employees, including two involved in the program, were placed on leave after an investigation showed possible misuse of public funds. CCSD police turned over evidence of their investigation to Las Vegas Metro police.

The police investigation was underway.

CCSD says the program offers adults with limited English skills support for lifelong literacy as well as self-sufficiency skills. Younger students in the district can also take the classes.

CCSD said all locations of the classes around the county will continue as scheduled except for those at 3801 E. Washington Ave. and 4204 Channel 10 Dr. in Las Vegas.

Parenting skills classes at The Parent Institute were canceled, CCSD said.

People needing information on the AELAS classes can call 702-799-6478 or visit the Education Service Division Adult Education Office at 2701 East St. Louis Ave.
