As you step out Tuesday morning you'll encounter a cold rain for the Upstate, snow in the mountains, and a snow/rain mix in between. When I say "in between" I mean for those spots in the far northern Upstate and southern mountains. The Upstate should clear out by lunchtime, but the mountains will see off and on snow through the day and a strong northwest flow kicks in. That northwest wind will be felt in the Upstate as well, with gusts in excess of 30 mph during Tuesday afternoon.
A Freeze Watch is in effect for the Upstate, northeast GA and piedmont of NC for Tuesday night, because the growing season has begun and we are looking at temps well below freezing. Bundle up and protect those plants!
