The recipe...

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Many of us are enjoying the pleasant and much anticipated arrival of spring. Talks of warmer temperatures, sunny skies and flip flops are beginning to bounce around among friends.

However, I wouldn't pack away the winter coat just yet. As the model runs continue to update and Tuesday approaches, we are slowly seeing the ingredients of a winter storm come together that may impact the Carolinas.

The first ingredient, moisture. We will see moisture from the Gulf of Mexico build across the south east into next week which is the first step to our potential wet weather.

The Second ingredient, cold air. The second factor that we see effecting Tuesday morning's weather is the cold air that will be pushing into the Carolinas behind a cold front that will be arriving on Sunday.

With colder temperatures expected to hit the Upstate and western North Carolina, we can expect it to effect any precipitation that may fall. Which brings us to the third ingredient…

With these elements in place, we still need something to mix them. That is where the last ingredient comes into play. A low pressure system is expected to develop and track just south of South Carolina and hug the coast as it travel to the North east.

The placement of this low is real the driving factor here. The counter clockwise rotation will suck cooler air into the Carolinas and kick up moisture from the Gulf and Atlantic as well as generate the formation of the storm.

When these ingredients come together we get the perfect recipe for a potential snow event Tuesday morning.

Many things can change as we get closer to the event and model data updates, however, as of right now, it seems that winter is cooking up one more surprise for us before it says goodbye!
