LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The oldest mall in Las Vegas will begin work on a multi-million renovation later this month, which its new owner says will restore it to its former glory.

The Boulevard Mall on Maryland Parkway received approval on Wednesday during a Clark County Planning Commission meeting to move forward with the facelift of the 1.2-million square-foot shopping complex.

Owner Sansone Companies said plans for the work include redesigns of the façade and landscape, enhancements on the surround areas on Maryland Parkway and the addition of new stores, restaurants and entertainment venues.

Sansone estimated cost of the redevelopment between $23 million and $25 million. Work, which will be done in phases, is slated to be completed by 2015.

Property management and development company Sansone purchased the mall last December for $54.5 million. In its current state, the mall has shown signs of its 49 years in existence.

"The Boulevard Mall is renowned in the Las Vegas community but is in need of major updates to restore its relevancy for today's consumer shopping experience," said Roland Sansone, founder of Sansone Companies. "When we took ownership of the property, we not only saw it as an opportunity to breathe new life into the mall, but to Maryland Parkway as well."

Sansone also announced additions will be in place including free Wi-Fi, valet parking, a food court upgrade with television monitors and a farmers market.

The mall will remain open at regular hours during the construction, Sansone said.
