The Phoenix Police Department is ramping up their drunken driving patrols for what it expected to be a busy weekend.

Phoenix police said DUI vans and officers will be deployed citywide beginning Friday, through St. Patrick's Day on Monday.

Patrol officers will be bringing DUI suspects to the nearest command post location so their arrests can be counted as part of the statewide efforts to combat impaired driving, Phoenix police said.

Here's a list of command post locations for Friday and Saturday:

  • Cactus Park: 2710 W. Thunderbird in QT parking lot
  • Mountain View: 1610 E. Highland in QT parking lot
  • Desert Horizon: 4011 E. Greenway in QT parking lot
  • Central City: Central City Precinct, parking lot
  • South Mountain: Southern Command Station parking lot
  • Maryvale: 2700 W Thomas, in the QT parking lot

According to police, the command post locations on Saturday and Sunday will be:

  • 1610 E. Highland in QT parking lot
  • 2700 W. Thunderbird, in the QT parking lot
  • To be determined

The cost for the extra patrols came through a grant.

Phoenix police said the arrests will be reported to the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
