One man is in custody following a house fire investigators ruled arson Wednesday afternoon.
Just after 3 p.m., firefighters responded to the blaze at a house near Grand Teton Drive and Rainbow Boulevard.
One caller told a dispatcher he or she witnessed someone throw something through a window before flames erupted. Another witness reported seeing someone flee the fire in a car.
One of the home's bedrooms was gutted.
Three dogs and an exotic bird died in the fire and two adults and an infant were displaced. There were no other injuries reported.
A suspect was taken into custody at an undisclosed time and location.
Damage is estimated at $50,000. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
The fire is now being investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
