LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Animal Foundation is raffling off the 27 puppies that were victims of a suspected arson fire at their pet shop. While some have their hearts set on the purebred animals, the Foundation wants to remind pet lovers that they have hundreds of other animals at the Lied Animal Shelter ready to go home right now.

Autumn Kawski and her friend went to the shelter hoping to adopt one of the 27 puppies but since they aren't readily available, they ended up checking out the dog bungalows.

"We looked around for different dogs and fell in love with this one," Kawski said.

The Animal Foundation hopes others will also keep an open heart. They also say this is a good reminder that puppies can be hard work.

"We tell people, they are cute, but it means three hours of sleep at night, getting up, a lot of pee, a lot of poop. And depending on the energy level, they could be a high-energy dog," Diana Lammerts with the Animal Foundation said.

Right now, there are 150 other dogs available for adoption.

There are also dozens of cats, bunnies, turtles, gerbils and even a snake ready to meet their new owners.

Adoption fees for dogs may be lower than the $250 raffle ticket. Dog fees run between $105 and $250. Cats are $80 to $100.

The fees cover many things including spay and neutering, microchips and up-to-date shots.
