LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

It's already the tallest observation wheel in the world.

On Friday, Las Vegas' own 550-foot High Roller was officially lit for the first time, adapting to the electric environment surrounded by it.

Caesars Entertainment, which owns the LINQ entertainment district the wheel anchors, held an official lighting ceremony Friday evening.

The lighting marked the latest activity being made at the mid-Strip district before it officially opens.

Last month, the LINQ reopened O'Sheas in a renovated 5,000-square-foot space attached to the Quad hotel-casino.

The High Roller is slated to open to the public later this year. The wheel has the ability to hold up to 40 people in each of its 28 pods.
