Cold Friday morning followed by chance for wintry weather

Temperatures will take a tumble into the upper 20s for the Upstate and teens in the mountains for Friday morning.

But the day Friday is shaping up to be really nice, a lot like Thursday in fact.  We should see plenty of blue sky and highs will be in the 50s for the Upstate and 40s in the mountains, so jackets may still be required at times.

By Friday night, we'll be watching a fast moving system that will bring VERY light precipitation Friday night into Saturday morning.  It's looking like mostly light rain showers for the lower elevations (isolated patches of light sleet or freezing rain will be possible), while the mountains could see periods of freezing rain and sleet.

There shouldn't be enough to cause any major issues, but a glaze of ice will be possible on raised surfaces.  We are talking about less than 0.05" of precipitation.

Temps will warm quickly through Saturday, and we should hit the 50s area-wide.  Sunday should be much warmer with highs back into the low 70s for the Upstate with partly cloudy skies.

A cold front comes in Monday to bring another chance for rain, and potentially a few t-storms as temperatures will be well above normal.  The rest of the week will be chilly as it looks now, and we'll be watching for the development of a low pressure along the gulf late week.

Our long range models have been holding onto the notion that the low will develop and wrap up as it moves northeast.  Sounds like a perfect scenario for Upstate snow, right?  Well, the cold air isn't in place.  That could change as the forecast evolves, so we'll keep you posted!
