(CNN) – An internal review of the Army has disqualified more than 500 soldiers from being sexual assault counselors.

The review began in August 2013 at the request of Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.

It found that these people had a variety of violations ranging from sexual assault to child abuse to drunk driving.

An Army official says these infractions prevent these people from serving in a position of trust.

These findings come as the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee held a hearing on the impact of sexual assault in the military.
