LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A pre-trial hearing was pushed back to next month in the 2010 murder case of a Las Vegas Strip performer on the Las Vegas Strip.

A status check was originally slated Wednesday for Jason "Blu" Griffith, 35, who is accused of killing and dismembering the body of Debbie Flores Narvaez more than three years ago.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys are sparring over the use of a 911 call as evidence in the trial. The trial, which was set for Feb. 24, is expected to be delayed as well.

According to authorities, Narvaez, 31, went missing Dec. 12, 2010 after she was last seen heading to Griffith's home to watch television.

There was no sign of the woman, who was a dancer for the show Fantasy, until authorities found her car abandoned about five days later.

Investigators then received a tip in the case pointing to Griffith as a suspect in Narvaez's disappearance. According to an arrest report, a friend of the victim told police Griffith asked her to store a tub of concrete for him.

In the arrest report, the friend stated Griffith told her, "Debbie is in there."

Police said Griffith's roommate, whom investigators were told assisted in carrying and storing Narvaez dismembered body in the tub of concrete, led detectives to the woman's body which was stored in a vacant home.

Griffith was arrested shortly after the body was found. Documents said Griffith stated to a detective that Narvaez's death "was not a premeditated thing and that it was a heat of the moment thing that happened." Medical examiners later determined Narvaez appeared to have died by strangulation.

Griffith was booked on a charge of murder in January 2011 at Clark County Detention Center. He pleaded not guilty in the case. A trial on the case, though, has been delayed on several occasions over the last few years.

The rescheduled status check is set for March 5.
