LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) on Thursday night identified the man accused of causing a deadly head-on crash on Summerlin Parkway as Gustavo Garcia-Martinez of North Las Vegas.

Garcia-Martinez was behind the wheel of the pickup truck that struck a sedan on Feb. 5, killing Savanna Gonzales, 20, and her boyfriend, Frank Anthony Spenia III, 31.

The NHP said a preliminary test indicates Garcia-Martinez had alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. Final results will not be available until next week.

Garcia-Martinez remains hospitalized. Troopers earlier said that if it is determined that Garcia-Martinez's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit, he will likely be charged with driving under the influence causing death.

The crash occurred on Summerlin Parkway near Rampart Drive. Troopers said it appeared Garcia-Martinez crossed the westbound lanes to the center median and into oncoming traffic.

The crash renewed calls for safety devices such as a guardrail along Summerlin Parkway.
