LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

More than 100 people gathered Friday night at Arbors Park, near the 215 Beltway and Far Hills Avenue, to remember Savanna Gonzales.

Gonzales, 20, and her boyfriend, Frank Anthony Spenia III, 31, were killed Wednesday in a head-on crash on Summerlin Parkway near Rampart Boulevard.

Police said the driver of a pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the couple's sedan. The cause of the collision is suspected to be alcohol-related.

Gonzales' friends and family brought flowers to Friday's vigil and lit candles in her honor.

A petition to convince officials to construct a barrier or guardrail along that stretch of Summerlin Parkway was circulated.

Gonzales' mother, Ana Monarrez, said she'll fight to improve safety along Summerlin Parkway.

"Those barriers aren't really everywhere. I want to keep that on the table. I'm not going to let [up] until they give me an answer as to why they don't put up a barrier there," she said.

After receiving number complaints from drivers about that stretch of Summerlin Parkway, Las Vegas leaders said city engineers are investigating to determine if a barrier or guardrail needs to be installed.

The vigil ended with a prayer followed a balloon release.
