Police said a man died early Monday morning after getting into a fight at a west Las Vegas bar.

Larry Hadfield with Las Vegas Metro police said officers were sent to the Loose Caboose bar on Flamingo Road near Arville Street at 4:22 a.m.

According to Hadfield, officers found a man unconscious and unresponsive there. He was rushed to University Medical Center Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the victim got into a verbal argument with Luis Chavarin, 31, which escalated into a physical confrontation. The victim fell to the ground in the struggle, suffering injuries.

Chavarin was taken into custody and faces a charge of open murder.

The Clark County coroner's office was assigned to identify the victim and a cause of death. This marks the sixth homicide investigated by Metro police so far in 2014.
