An elementary school in North Las Vegas was placed on lockdown as a precaution amid a police pursuit nearby Thursday.
Clark County School District confirmed the lockdown at Fay Herron Elementary School near Pecos Road and Carey Avenue.
According to North Las Vegas police, officers were assisting Nevada Highway Patrol in the pursuit. The NHP's Trooper Loy Hixson said the incident began about 11:30 a.m. when a parole officer with the NHP was checking up on someone at a North Las Vegas home.
When that officer arrived, two minors fled the home on foot. One was taken into custody; the other has been identified but remains on the loose.
The lockdown was lifted about 12:30 p.m.
