LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Target announced Friday that it will close eight stores they consider to be under performing. Two of the closing stores are in southern Nevada.

By May 3, the Target store at Decatur and Meadows, and the store at Craig and Clayton in North Las Vegas will close.

Loyal Target shopper Randy Day was disappointed to hear that the North Las Vegas store is closing. He said it's the closest store to his house in Aliante.

"I'm very shocked. This is the first I've heard of it. [I'm] disappointed and shocked at the same time," said Day, who was shopping with his grandson.

A Target spokesperson said there are 75 employees at the Craig and Clayton store, and 100 employees at the Decatur and Meadows location. Target said some employees at the closing stores can transfer to other locations.

Employees told FOX5 they're not allowed to talk about the closures.

The announcement of the store closures is unrelated to the recent data breach that affected millions of Target shoppers.
