CORNVILLE, AZ (CBS5) -

A Yavapai County couple is safe and their neighbor is in custody after threatening to kill them.

The 60-year-old husband and his 59-year-old wife said Clifford Katz, 54, came to their home in the 2800 block of Tissaw Road in Cornville on Saturday, told them he bought their house and wanted them out.

Katz returned a few minutes later, saying he "could have them killed," according to Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

The couple called 911 and Katz allegedly told them he was going to get his gun and kill them, YCSO said.

Katz returned and fired several rounds into the home.

A deputy arrived within minutes and took Katz into custody.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Detectives served a search warrant at Katz's home and recovered more than four pounds of marijuana, a 12-gauge shotgun and the .22 caliber rifle he shot into the couple's home.

Detectives said drug use and medical issues may be a factor in the incident.

Katz was booked into Camp Verde Detention Center on charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm into a structure.

He remains in custody on a $45,000 bond.
