DOUGLAS, AZ (CBS5) -

A man has been arrested on attempted first-degree murder charges after a couple was shot at several times in their vehicle early Saturday morning.

A man called Douglas police reporting he and his girlfriend were shot at about 4 a.m. in the 2000 block of 23rd Street in Douglas.

Responding officers found several shell casings and a holster in the street, Douglas police said.

Detectives found evidence to lead them to a 2005 white Chevy truck and Jesus Munoz, 28, of Douglas.

By 5 a.m., border patrol agents spotted the vehicle on Highway 191 at mile post 52.

Munoz was arrested and detectives recovered a handgun.

Munoz was booked into the Cochise County Detention Center for attempted first-degree murder, reckless handling of a firearm, endangerment, and intimidation.
