COCHISE COUNTY, AZ (CBS5) -

A 70-year-old hiker was brought to safety after a fall near Horseshoe Canyon in Cochise County on Thursday.

The woman, from Portal, fell and injured her hip about 4 p.m. while on a hike with a group, according to Cochise County Sheriff's Office. A member of the group hiked to an area to call for help.

Cochise County Search and Rescue called Davis Monthan Air Force Base for air assistance because of the remote location. The woman was airlifted to University Medical Center for her injuries.

Search and Rescue personnel located the rest of her hiking group and got them safely out of the canyon about 1 a.m. Friday.
