LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
As usual, several road closures will be in effect along Las Vegas Boulevard and in downtown Las Vegas to accommodate New Year's Eve celebrations.
Downtown, Fremont Street Experience will be closed to the public beginning at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31. It will reopen at approximately 6 p.m.
Along the Las Vegas Strip, travel will be unrestricted on Sahara Avenue, Russell Road, Desert Inn Road, Frank Sinatra Drive and Koval Lane.
Harmon Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic on the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard. Vehicle traffic on Harmon on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard will be limited to access to hotel properties only.
At 5 p.m., police will begin closing off-ramps from Interstate 15 to eastbound Tropicana Boulevard. Beginning at 5:45 p.m., police will begin closing all other streets, roads and alleys leading westbound onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara and Russell.
At 6 p.m., all roads leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara and Russell will be closed with barricades in place.
At 6:15 p.m., police will begin clearing vehicles from Las Vegas Boulevard from Sahara to Russell. Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed to all vehicle traffic by 6:30 p.m. Also at 6:30 p.m., all moving walkways, elevators and escalators leading to or crossing Las Vegas Boulevard will be shut off.
Most roads will begin reopening to traffic by 3:30 a.m.
