LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Investigators believe a house fire in the west side of Las Vegas was deliberately set with the use of Molotov cocktails.

According to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, two elderly women had to be rescued from a burning home in the 5800 block of Carmen Boulevard, near Jones Boulevard and Vegas Drive, about 4:40 a.m. Friday.

Police received a call from the home reporting a prowler outside of the residence, according to LVFR.

When officers arrived, they saw fire coming from a bedroom window and the front lawn. Authorities said the women told them another person may have been in the home during the fire, but firefighters couldn't find anyone else.

Citing the women, LVFR said another female was staying at the home temporarily and was in the midst of an ongoing domestic dispute involving another person. Authorities were unable to disclose that woman's whereabouts.

Investigators said the fire appeared to have been purposely set due to gasoline being doused around the house. Investigators also found points where two fire bombs, or Molotov cocktails, were thrown.

The fire caused about $25,000 worth of damage. The women were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.
