LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro police confirmed a female pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Valley's east side Thursday.

The accident occurred about 8:45 p.m. on Nellis Boulevard at Cedar Avenue, near Stewart Avenue. Witnesses said the victim was hit by a white sedan. Police said the victim was inside a marked crosswalk when she was struck.

The Clark County Coroner's office identified the woman as, 49-year-old Luz Savela-Martinez. Medical Examiners say she died of blunt force trauma to the head and her death was ruled an accident.

Police closed portions of Nellis from Bonanza Road to Stewart to investigate. This was the 109th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction in 2013.

This marked the second deadly pedestrian accident Thursday night. Earlier, a pedestrian was killed on northbound Interstate 15 near the Sahara Avenue exit.
