LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroner's Office released the name of a Las Vegas man who, police say, shot his daughter before turning the gun on himself.

Medical examiners, though, did not immediately release a manner of death for Rene Espinal, 52.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, officers were called to the Regency Heights Apartments on Lake Mead Boulevard near Pecos Road about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police arrived to find the man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A woman who was believed to be his daughter sustained several gunshot wounds and was taken to University Medical Center, where she was last listed in critical but stable condition.

Citing an investigation, police said they believe the daughter tried to talk her father out of taking his own life when she was shot several times in the chest.

Police said the woman was expected to survive. An investigation into the case was ongoing.
