Traffic on Bonanza Road in the northeast end of the Las Vegas Valley was shut down after a vehicle struck a light pole Monday.
Las Vegas Metro police first reported the incident on Bonanza Road just west of Pecos Road at about 1:10 p.m.
Police said one person was killed in the crash while another person was transported to University Medical Center.
Police said evidence and witness statements indicate a 1990 Chevy Astro van was traveling eastbound on Bonanza west of Pecos Road when it veered to the right, struck the curb, drove up onto the sidewalk and struck a light pole.
The light pole then struck a 35-year-old female pedestrian. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van re-entered the road, crossed travel lanes and struck another curb before driving on the sidewalk and into a parking lot where it struck two vehicles.
This is the 107th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction so far in 2013.
