LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro police said a pedestrian was critically injured when he was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Russell Road

The accident occurred about 4:45 p.m. Thursday. The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital.

Police said it appears the victim, a man in his 50s, was in a crosswalk when struck, but that he stepped into the intersection against a light. He was hit by a blue BMW, which was headed eastbound on Russell.

Police do not believe the driver was at fault.

Police closed the intersection of Boulder and Russell to investigate. It reopened to traffic about 9 p.m.
