A man wanted in connection to a slaying in California will await extradition after he was taken into custody in a Las Vegas standoff this week.

A 72-hour hearing took place Thursday for William Gardner, 30, who was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after, police say, he barricaded himself at the Camden Apartments near Mountain Vista Street on Monday night.

Gardner will not face charges in Nevada and bail was not set in court Thursday.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, members of the U.S. Marshal's Service Task Force tracked Gardner to an apartment unit where he refused to come out.

Police said another man, a woman and a small child were inside the apartment during the standoff.

Police, though, were able to detain Gardner after he surrendered peacefully. Police also detained a woman, Brittany Ulmer, 24, as a result of the standoff.

Gardner was booked into Clark County Detention Center on a felony charge of being a fugitive from another state.

Police said Ulmer was booked for obstructing a peace officer.

Gardner was wanted in connection with the Nov. 18 slaying of his girlfriend in Winters, CA, according to that city's police department.

According to the courts, California law enforcement has 30 days to pick up Gardner.
