FOX5 and 98.5 KLUC continued their efforts to make sure no child in southern Nevada goes without a gift this holiday season.

Wednesday was the seventh of 12 days of the KLUC toy drive at NV Energy, and it was a record-breaking day.

Tryst and XS nightclub get credit for making the biggest single donation ever of $190,698. It was enough to fill six truckloads worth of toys.

"There's no company money in that. That's all the employees," said Chet Buchanan of KLUC's The Morning Zoo. "Every night, they have a big box back in the office, and every night, they put a few bucks in."

It's a massive amount but not the ultimate goal.

"If the goal is to make sure that every child in southern Nevada has a toy for the holidays, we'll never know if we've done enough," said Buchanan.

"I wanted to bring the boys down here and let them know Christmas is all about giving," said one parent who donated a bike.

"It's always nice to give to people that need something like this," said an Army veteran who donated two bikes.

Whether it's a bike or a toy that's donated, there's no need to worry about where the gifts are going to end up. The folks at HELP of Southern Nevada have the distribution down to a science.

"All volunteers are trained to sort the toys," said HELP Chief Operations Officer Luilala Riley. "Black bags are for all boys toys. Green are for girls, and zero to three-year-olds are clear bags."

The color-coded bags are then loaded into semi-trailers and shipped off to HELP headquarters and warehouse.

Twelve trailers have been filled so far; the hope is to exceed last year's total of 18.

HELP will assist 3,000 families alone, and will distribute the toys by building its own toy store.

Sixty-five other local nonprofits have applied to receive a share of the toys and bikes, but there will be no guarantees for those groups until the final tally of the drive on Monday.

If you are interested in receiving assistance through HELP of Southern Nevada, you must apply in person at their office at 1640 E. Flamingo Road #100.

Thursday and Monday will be the final days to apply.
