Reserve Runnin' Rebels forward Jamal Aytes is transferring from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the school's athletic department announced Wednesday.
The 6'6" freshman appeared in only four of the seven UNLV games this season averaging 2.8 points in 9.3 minutes per game.
Aytes, who was signed with the Runnin' Rebels program late in the summer, is from San Diego, CA.
"I have enjoyed my time at UNLV, but transferring gives me a better opportunity for playing time sooner in my career," Aytes said.
"We thank Jamal for his contributions and wish him the best in the future," head basketball coach Dave Rice said.
The announcement of the transfer followed UNLV's signings of top-rated recruits Dwayne Morgan and Goodluck Okonoboh. Each player will enroll in Fall 2014.
