LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Surveillance video made public Wednesday shows a gunman fighting with security guards at a Las Vegas nightclub before being tackled by a good Samaritan who died during the struggle.

The video released by Clark County District Court was shown as evidence to a grand jury in the shooting case inside Bally's hotel-casino involving 41-year-old Benjamin Frazier.

Frazier was charged in October with murder, two counts of attempted murder and prohibited person in possession of a firearm in the shooting in front of Drai's After Hours nightclub inside Bally's.

According to Las Vegas Metro Police, Frazier walked into Drai's about 5:45 a.m. on Oct. 21, leaving his identification with a hostess while he checked out the club. He returned to pay the $30 cover charge, police said.

Investigators said Frazier then changed his mind and became confrontational with a doorman at the club, eventually throwing the doorman to the ground. They said Frazier then pulled out a gun and shot the doorman in the arm. The round from the .38-caliber revolver also hit the doorman in the chest.

Frazier then shot in the stomach a security guard, who collapsed a few feet away, according to the report.

According to the report, Frazier then left the nightclub, randomly pointing the gun. That was when a patron, Kenneth Brown, tackled Frazier.

According to the report, Brown and Frazier struggled before Brown was shot twice - once in the neck and once in the chest. Frazier then hit his head when both men fell to the ground, according to the report.

Brown, the two other victims and Frazier were taken to University Medical Center for treatment, but Brown did not survive.

Frazier pleaded not guilty to the charges in the shooting.

"The video speaks to the physical acts that occurred, however, it doesn't tell the whole story as to what was going on inside of Ben's head. We have information that he was taking three types of anti-depressants and two types of blood pressure medication at high levels. Also, we have information that he had drunk a large amount of alcohol as well," said Frazier's cousin Bob Beckett, the former district attorney of Nye County, until he was ousted in 2010. Beckett is serving as one of his cousin's attorneys.

"We do feel very sorry for the big tragedy that occurred during this event. We know that the video footage can be very traumatic to watch. But we caution everyone to understand that the criminal justice is called the criminal justice system for a reason. And all you're seeing is one piece of the pie," said Vicki Greco, Frazier's attorney.

For his part, Brown was haled as a hero by police, with Sheriff Doug Gillespie calling Brown's actions "heroic" during a news conference following the shooting.
