LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Three players for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas football team garnered all-Mountain West team honors following an improved 7-5 season and a trip to a postseason bowl game.

The school announced running back Tim Cornett, wide receiver Devante Davis and offensive lineman Brett Boyko earned spots on the all-conference second team. The school noted this was the first season since 2006 UNLV placed more than two players on all-conference teams.

In addition, seven other Rebels earned honorable mention by the Mountain West. The honors for the 10 Rebels were the most UNLV garnered since 11 were recognized in 2003 when the Mountain West was comprised of nine teams.

The honored trio on the offensive side were recognized each for their record-setting efforts. Cornett became the school's all-time leading rusher and the second highest rusher in Mountain West history.

Davis, who was also Cornett's teammate when the two went to North Shore High School in Texas, owns the school record for most touchdown catches in the season with 14.

Boyko allowed only one sack to the quarterback as the team's left tackle.

UNLV players placing in this season's honorable mention list included:

  • Frank Crawford, DB
  • Mark Garrick, DL
  • Cameron Jefferson, OL
  • Tani Maka, LB
  • Marcus Sullivan, PR/KR
  • Peni Vea, DB
  • Robert Waterman, OL

The Rebels accepted a bid to play in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Jan. 1, 2014 against University of North Texas. The game will mark UNLV's first bowl since 2000.
