A 13-year-old schoolgirl identified an ex-convict from California as her attacker, and a Las Vegas judge ordered the man to stand trial on charges that he abducted the girl from a school bus stop and raped her at knifepoint.

The girl testified Thursday in a preliminary hearing against 48-year-old Richard Martin Schlacta.

Schlacta has pleaded not guilty to charges including kidnapping a minor, sexual assault of a child, coercion and battery with a deadly weapon in the Aug. 28 attack.

The judge scheduled his arraignment next Wednesday in state court.

Schlacta could face life in prison if he's convicted.

Schlacta is jailed on $1 million bail, and is being held in isolation after prosecutors told the judge he plotted to kill the girl to prevent her from testifying.
