AUBURN, AL (RNN) – In a high-scoring shoot out, the Auburn Tigers (1-1) fell at home to the Northwestern State Demons (2-0) 111-92 Friday night. The Demons had five players in double-digits.

In the first of two back-to-back games against SEC teams, the Demons' Jalan West scored a career-high 30 points, with nine rebounds, six assists and three steals.

The double-digit victory snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Southeastern Conference.

Tigers senior guard Chris Denson scored 29 points – 20 points in the first half – with nine rebounds, five assists and one block.

Auburn, at one point, had a 13-point lead in the second half, only to have the Demons tie the game at 73 points with 10 minutes left. The Demons pulled away quickly, leading by 20 points at one point late in the game.

Auburn made 27 percent of their 3-pointers and shot 46 percent from field goal range.

The Tigers' next game will be at home against Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Tuesday.
