LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
It's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon weekend in Las Vegas, and for people planning to go to the Strip on Sunday, Metro Officer Larry Hadfield has some advice.
"This is going to be a great event for Las Vegas. Unfortunately, people are going to have some delays, and that's just part of the race, but we are happy to have it in town," he said.
More than 30,000 runners will take to the streets of Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon for the half marathon, the Half of the Half Marathon and the full marathon.
"Las Vegas Boulevard, Grand Central Parkway, Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue will be affected parts of the day," Hadfield said.
Most of the road closures will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, except southbound Las Vegas Boulevard from Spring Mountain Road to E. Flamingo Road. That stretch will be closed starting at 10 a.m. Sunday until 2 a.m. Monday.
"We're definitely up for the challenge," said Karen Ly, among the thousands of locals who will run Sunday.
The first race is set to begin at 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
