LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The Clark County Coroner's Office released the name of a woman who died after a confrontation with another woman at an east Las Vegas bar.
Medical examiners said Misty Elaine Madera, 30, of Las Vegas, died of a stab wound of the chest as a result of a homicide.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Madera was the victim of a fight that started inside a bar in the 3500 block of South Maryland Parkway at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police said 22-year-old Sarah Chavez confronted Madera and another woman after they had tripped Chavez's boyfriend.
An argument turned into a fight that spilled out into the parking lot, police said.
In documents, a witness told police Chavez reached at one of the women and punched her in the chest. Police said the victim, later identified as Madera, yelled out, "She has a knife," as she was bleeding.
Madera was rushed to Sunrise Trauma Center, where she later died.
In an interview with police, Chavez denied knowing the woman who was stabbed. Chavez admitted she had armed herself with a sharp object in the bar because she was afraid, according to documents.
An arrest report later showed Chavez admitted to having a knife before the fight began.
Chavez was booked into Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon.
