LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Things are popping over at Opportunity Village, and it's delicious.

The nonprofit, which provides adults with intellectual disabilities with employment, is releasing its first-ever product just in time for the holidays.

It's a brand of gourmet popcorn called PopShoppe, and it will arrive on store shelves at Sam's Club on Monday.

For the last year, Opportunity Village chefs and staff from UNLV's Culinary Arts program have been working around the clock to come up with the perfect popcorn.

Nina Gambow is one of the chefs behind the caramel-covered, crimson chocolate-drizzled popcorn. She's been working with Opportunity Village for three years.

"We've been doing just pallets upon pallets. It fills up the entire gym," she said.

Sixty pallets filled with 34,000 pounds of popcorn are ready to be shipped to Sam's Club.

Gambow has fetal alcohol syndrome. She said being able to hold a job and bring home a paycheck make her feel like she's contributing to the community. She's hoping the popcorn is a hit.

"This could take us to a whole new level if it's successful," said Opportunity Village Director of Sales Laura D'Amore.

D'Amore said sales of the popcorn will help fund Opportunity Village's culinary program and others.

"We're looking at residential programs, so this could fund that program," she said.

In addition to employment, Opportunity Village offers vocational training and much more.

"We save Nevada taxpayers $28 million a year because of the over 1,200 people that we serve here at Opportunity Village," D'Amore said.

The popcorn will be available at 30 Sam's Club locations in the southwest, including each one in the Las Vegas Valley, until the end of December.

You may purchase three 8-ounce bags of popcorn, two cinnamon-dusted and an original, for $9.98.
