A 27-year-old Prescott man was caught stealing a chainsaw from a display shelf in Sears.
An employee and a customer reported seeing the suspect, later identified as Thomas Reyes, leave the store on Gateway Boulevard with the stolen chainsaw. When the worker confronted Reyes, he raised the chainsaw toward the employee and yelled "back off."
Prescott police said Reyes got away but a witness gave officers information on the car Reyes was driving and police found the car on East Merritt Street in Prescott. Reyes was in a home on the street and was booked in the Yavapai County Jail for armed robbery, according to police.
