A man wanted for a fatal confrontation with another person on a Las Vegas Strip pedestrian bridge was placed behind bars on Tuesday.

According to inmate records, Joseph Hyde, 54, was booked into Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder.

A Las Vegas Metro police document said Hyde was identified as the person who punched 54-year-old Michael Burtosky during an argument on the walkway between the New York-New York and MGM Grand hotel-casinos on Sept. 14.

Citing a by-stander of the incident, police said Burtosky appeared intoxicated at the time of the confrontation with Hyde. The by-stander told police the argument reached the point of physicality when Hyde punched Burtosky and pushed him to the ground, documents said.

Police said Burtosky hit his head on the ground, causing him to go unconscious. Burtosky died three days after the incident at University Medical Center. The Clark County Coroner's Office ruled his death a result of a homicide.

Documents said security with New York-New York recognized the aggressor as Hyde, who resembled the same person who recently trespassed the casino.

Police later learned Hyde had fled town in the days following the fight to Flagstaff, AZ, documents showed. Police also learned through another witness that Hyde and Burtosky bickered in another incident before the punch.

Citing the witness, police said Hyde threatened to "toss [Burtosky] down the escalator" if he didn't leave him and his girlfriend alone.

Police did not disclose how Hyde was detained.
