LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro Officer Laurie Bisch confirmed to FOX5 on Friday afternoon that she is dropping out of the race for sheriff.

Bisch said she is doing so to throw her support behind candidate Larry Burns, the captain of the Bolden Area Command.

She said the two share the same vision for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Current Sheriff Doug Gillespie recently announced he will not seek a third term in office.

Other contenders include former Assistant Sheriff Ted Moody, former Las Vegas Township Constable Robert "Bobby G" Gronaur and Metro Detective Gordon Martines.
