We're sitting in a lucky spot for Halloween, considering the messy weather going on just to our west. Today, expect mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the upper 60s to low-70s. As the front approaches, wind will increase to around 6-11mph for everyone. Western NC areas could see gusty winds up to 24mph, so a Wind Advisory is in place from now through 7am Friday. An isolated mountain shower is possible today and tonight, but otherwise we're looking to stay dry through Trick-or-treating. While you're out tonight, temperatures will drop into the 60s.
Overnight tonight into Friday, the cold front will build into our region bringing scattered rain around the midnight hour. The early commute Friday will be a soggy, messy one, so give yourself some extra time on the roads. Expect scattered rain and thunderstorms through the day, with some isolated strong storms as well. Our biggest concern will be damaging wind, but an isolated tornado has slight potential east and south of the I-85 line. By late Friday afternoon, we'll start to clear our from west to east. Friday night football will have some soggy fields, but skies should begin to clear and it'll be a cool night back in the 40s.
