NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

North Las Vegas detectives are asking for the public's help in locating a man suspected of sexually assaulting a child younger than 14.

The alleged assault took place on Oct. 17 in the area of Commerce Street and Carey Avenue, which the suspect is known to frequent.

The suspect is Guadalupe Barrales, who is also known as Lupe. The 32-year-old has no known address but works as a dishwasher in the area of Rampart Boulevard and Alta Drive.

Detectives are remaining vague on how Barrales knew the victim, and only said he was a person known to her family.

"The suspect basically took advantage of the relationship he had with the family to be able to be left alone with the girls," said Sgt. Tim Bedwell, a spokesperson for the North Las Vegas Police Department.

Barrales is Hispanic, 5'8", 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he has a prominent scar on the left side of his forehead.

Police believe Barrales is driving a white 1997 Nissan pickup truck bearing Nevada license plate 065VVJ.

So far, police have had no luck finding Barrales or his vehicle.

"We know that he has several friends in town, and a lot of them are women. So there is a chance that he's staying with a girlfriend even," Bedwell said.

Anyone who knows of Barrales' whereabouts or has information regarding the case is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111. You may also call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or leave information online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
