Rebels, Wolf Pack to honor Sparks Middle School victims

RENO, NV (FOX5) -

UNLV football players will join with players from Nevada, Reno to honor the victims of Monday's shooting at Sparks Middle School during their football game Saturday in Reno.

Players will wear "SMS" decals on their helmets during the game. The logos will includes a rendering of the middle school's Golden Bear mascot.

"With Stacey and I being the parents of four school-age children, it was especially painful to hear about the tragic events at Sparks Middle School, and our hearts go out to all of those affected," said UNLV head coach Bobby Hauck.

The teams will also observe a moment of silence prior to the game. Mason Kamerer, 12, who was injured in the shooting, will join Gov. Brian Sandoval on the sidelines for the game.

Donations will be collected at all Mackay Stadium gates for the Sparks Middle School Compassion Fund. The money will provide support to victims as well as students and staff at Sparks Middle School. For more information on the fund, visit www.NevadaFund.org.
