LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A driver and a child were thrown from a vehicle during a crash on Interstate 15 near Nellis Air Force Base on Wednesday.

The crash happened about 10 a.m. near the Lamb Boulevard exit.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliot said the vehicle was heading north on I-15, when it rolled over and ended up on the southbound side.

A driver and a child were both thrown from the vehicle, according to Trooper Loy Hixson. He said the child was attached to a child seat when the crash happened, but the seat was not properly attached to the vehicle.

The driver and child were both taken to University Medical Center for treatment, Hixson said. He said the driver was in critical condition while the child suffered minor injuries.

FOX5's Christian Cazares reported that investigators believe a tire blowout may have been the cause of the crash.

NHP said the crash blocked all lanes in both directions of the interstate. The freeway was reopened by 12:30 p.m., but delays were still being reported.
