Surveillance video captured a man setting fire to a poster at a Phoenix bar, but luckily a manager at a neighboring business put the blaze out before it burned down the bar, authorities said.
In an interview with police, James Valenzuela, 19, said he set the poster on fire because it was a male review showing men with their shirts off and "he did not like that," according the probable cause statement.
The fire was at Plazma Bar at 1560 E. Osborn Rd. about 11 a.m. Oct. 15. Police said Valenzuela did not try to put the fire out or call 911, and instead watched it burn and then as it grew larger, he jumped the fence and left the area.
The manager of the Volvo auto repair facility next door saw the fire and contained it to the back patio using a fire extinguisher.
There was about $2,000 damage to the exterior of the building.
