A grant totaling $2 million was presented Friday to Boys Town Nevada, which benefits families of students enrolled in a number of Las Vegas area schools.
The Engelstad Family Foundation presented the grant to support family-based services to students at Von Tobel Middle School and Fay Herron, Jay W. Jeffers and Myrtle Tate elementary schools.
Boys Town Nevada said the mission of the grant is to address issues in the family environment in the hopes of seeing positive change in the classroom.
"What we'll be doing is providing support to families so we can provide stabilization and intervention and help families to be able to ensure that their kids get good education and succeed in school," said Howard Olshansky, executive director of Boys Town Nevada.
The Latin Chamber of Commerce and Boys Town Nevada will work together to give schools the resources to promote healthy families and positive engage with their children's education.
