Court: Missed jury duty calls might be from scammers

Posted: Updated:
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

If you're told by phone that you skipped jury duty and must pay for it, it's probably a scam.

According to the Eighth Judicial District Court, some residents in Clark County have reported receiving calls from a person claiming to be law enforcement. The caller says an arrest warrant was issued for failure to appear for jury duty and that a sum of money from the resident can alleviate the citation.

The District Court said no phone calls from court officials are authorized in the event of missed jury service. The court urged people who receive calls like this to notify authorities.

The court also reminded people that no court representatives request monetary payment for anything.

Clark County residents can check on jury service at the District Court website or at 702-455-4472. Additional information on jury service can be found at this link.
