LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroner's Office released the name of a 24-year-old motorcyclist who died in a hit-and-run crash Thursday.

Medical examiners, though, did not yet release the cause of death for Jesus Vizcarra of Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Metro police said a hit-and-run driver blew through a red light and into the path of Vizcarra's motorcycle at Lamb Boulevard and Alexander Road just after 10 p.m. Thursday.

Citing witnesses and evidence, police said a 24-year-old motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Lamb and was proceeding through the intersection at Alexander on a green light.

About the same time, a 1997 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Alexander and failed to stop at the red light. Police said the vehicle was in the path of the motorcycle, causing the rider to crash into the Corolla's left front side.

Investigators said the driver of the Corolla did not stop at the scene. The vehicle was later found a half-mile away from the wreck without the driver.

The motorcyclist was rushed to University Medical Center, where that person was later pronounced dead.

Police said the wreck marked the 79th traffic-related fatality this year.

Police also urged anyone with information on the crash to contact Metro at 702-828-3317 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

Earlier in the day, another motorcyclist was killed in a wreck on Lake Mead Boulevard near D Street.
